Useful information about Wustrow
Swante Wustrow – ‘Holy Island’ – hundreds of years ago the location of a Slavic sanctuary, after which the present maritime community is named. The imposing church, with it’s beautiful gallery, is a very prominent landmark.
Wustrow harbour
The newly extended harbour of Wustrow is situated near the former entrance to the Baltic Sea and offers 35 mooring berths for guests, with modern sanitary facilities.
Entertainment in the cinema tent
Every May, as soon as temperatures allow, a summertime cinema can be found at the entrance to the Wustrow pier, which has developed into a popular meeting place for young and old, locals and visitors alike.
Surfers’ paradise Wustrow
The Baltic Sea, with it’s prevailing winds, is a splendid setting for experienced surfers. The Saaler Bodden is perfect for beginners. No surfing fan should miss the highlights of the surfing season.
The church of Wustrow
The church, in Wustrow on ‘Fischland’, was consecrated in 1873. The ‘Fischlandkirche’ bears neo-Gothic characteristics. The layout portrays the sign of a cross. In the arch, between the nave and the altar, a wall rosette can be seen which contains the Monogram of Christ. On one side of the arch wall, oil paintings depict Martin Luther und Philip Melanchthon.
