Manor houses

Go on a journey into the past of Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania. In many villages, towns and cities there are still manor houses and stately homes.

Colony of artists

When the painter Paul Müller-Kaempf saw Ahrenshoop for the first time more than a hundred years ago and discovered the place for himself, he was deeply impressed by the completely unspoilt, beautiful natural scenery between the Bodden and the sea.

While Ahrenshoop was at first visited by paintersworking out in nature with their students, the "painting women", the first spa visitors soon started to arrive on the scene.

Over the decades the painter's colony grew into a place of artists with a special aura which has managed to retain its appearance so full of character.

A wide offer of cultural events, numerous galleries and studios as well as regular arts exhibitions, but also the possibility to engage in creative activity, make up the flair of Ahrenshoop.Traditionally the place is the cultural centre of the region.

It is the special light and the wide open sky that first attracted the painters back then and still inspire the artists living here today.
